Ingredients
    Carne Asada
  • 1 Package Tofurky Plant-Based Carne Asada Steak Bites (7oz)
  • Creamy Avocado Sauce
  • 1 Large Avocado (Mashes)
  • 3 Tbsp Vegan Mayo
  • 1/4 Cup Fresh Cilantro
  • 1 Tbsp Lime Juice
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • Caramelized Onions & Jalapeños
  • 1 Large Onion (Sliced)
  • 1 Jalapeño (Sliced)
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • Pinch of Salt
  • To Assemble
  • 2 Bolillo Rolls (Or round rolls)
  • 4 Slices Vegan Cheese (Cut in halves, I used a smoked provolone)
  • Handful Fresh Cilantro
  • Lime Wedges
Instructions
  1. Make Avocado Sauce

Blend avocado, vegan mayo, cilantro, lime juice, and salt until smooth.

  2. Caramelize Onions & Jalapeños

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium. Add onions, jalapeños, and salt.
Cook down for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until caramelized.
    Remove from skillet.

  3. Cook Steak Bites

In the same skillet, heat 1 tbsp oil.
Add Tofurky carne asada steak bites.
    Sear 5–7 mins until crispy.
    Squeeze lime juice over them.

  4. Toast Bread & Melt Cheese

Slice bolillo rolls in half. Toast cut-side down in a dry skillet until golden.
Place cheese slices (cut in halves) on the bottom half to melt slightly.

  5. Assemble Tortas

Spread avocado sauce on both halves of rolls.
Layer on bottom half: melted cheese → caramelized onions/jalapeños → steak bites → fresh cilantro.
Top with other half of roll.

  6. Serve

Slice in half and serve with lime wedges!
