Ingredients
    For Tofu Prep
  • 1 Block Extra Firm High-Protein Tofu (You can find this at your local grocery store, if you don’t want high-protein make sure to sub with another tofu that’s extra firm.)
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
  • 3 Tbsp Cornstarch
  • Avocado Oil (For frying)
  • For Orange Sauce
  • 1/2 Cup Fresh Orange Juice (Or bottled, no sugar added)
  • 1 Zest Orange
  • 3 Tbsp Coconut Aminos
  • 2 Tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Maple Syrup (Or agave)
  • 1 Tbsp Sriracha
  • 3 Cloves Garlic (Minced)
  • 1 Tbsp Fresh Ginger (Grated)
  • 1/4 Cup Low-Sodium Vegetable Broth
  • Cornstarch Slurry
  • 2 Tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp Water
  • Optional Toppings
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • Green Onions
Instructions
  1. Prep the Tofu

    Press tofu for 5 minutes to remove excess water.
    Cut into 1-inch cubes.
    Toss tofu in garlic powder and black pepper, then coat evenly with cornstarch.

  2. Prep the Other Ingredients

    Grate ginger
    Mince garlic
    Make cornstarch slurry (2 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water)
    Chop green onions garnish for later
    Peel couple small pieces of orange peel

  3. Fry the Tofu

    Heat 2 tbsp avocado oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat.
    Fry tofu until golden and crispy (turn over as you cook to get each side brown).
    Set aside.

  4. Make the Orange Sauce

    In the same pan, sauté garlic and ginger for 1 minute until fragrant.
    Add orange juice, zest, orange peel pieces, coconut aminos, rice vinegar, maple syrup, sriracha, and broth.
    Bring to a simmer.
    Whisk cornstarch slurry into the sauce and cook until thickened (2-3 minutes).

  5. Combine and Serve

    Toss fried tofu in the orange sauce until fully coated.
    Serve over rice or choice of grain, topped with sesame seeds and/or green onions.
