    For Tofu Prep
  • 1 Block Extra Firm High-Protein Tofu (Can be found at your local grocery store, if you don’t want high-protein make sure to sub with another tofu that’s extra firm)
  • Garlic Salt Seasoning (To taste)
  • 3 Tbsp Corn Starch
  • Avocado Oil (To fry (or oil of choice))
  • For Sauce
  • 1.5 Tbsp Garlic Chili Paste
  • 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 Cup Coconut Aminos (A healthy sub for soy sauce)
  • 1.5 Tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 3/4 Cup Low-Sodium Vegetable Broth
  • 2.5 Tbsp Corn Starch
  • Sesame Oil (To drizzle)
  • For Toppings
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds
Instructions
  1. Prep the Tofu

Cut tofu into cubes and season with garlic salt.
Lightly coat the tofu with cornstarch.

  2. Fry the Tofu

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the tofu and fry until golden and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Optional: Sprinkle with black pepper while frying.
Once crispy, set the tofu aside.

  3. Cook the Sauce

In the same pan, add your sauce ingredients and cook over medium-high heat.
Add a splash of water if you like it more saucy.
Stir frequently until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. Combine Tofu and Sauce

Once the sauce thickens, toss the crispy tofu back into the pan and mix until fully coated.

  5. Serve

Serve the tofu over rice and garnish with toasted sesame seeds.
